Artistic statement

My creative and research work is framed one one side within dialogue and image, and on the other with sound and technology. In this sense that drives to the aesthetics of cyber culture and reflexions on the role of technology in daily life.
My practice is mediated mainly by drawing, live processes, sound, and open programming. As a result my creations are entangled with elements of noise, repetition and melancholy: scratches, internet debris, repeated images in various resolutions and degrees of feedback. The melancholic element consists in capturing the kind of feeling that attaches the affectations and power relationships between human and technology, like the routines of visuality, real-time and post-human corporalities.
My labor as a teacher and my taste for open culture has led me to work with diverse communities with open software, cyber-feminism, access to know-how with open knowledge and collective creative processes.

I am a founder of the creative research ensemble Perpetuum Mobile as well as a member of the High Rate Extinction, a Bogota-based metal band, in which I take care of sampling and live video
